Tonight I’m going to be making an appearance in the House of Beni, performing our song “Someone Just Like You” live.  It’s a Scion AV party and it’s at White Rabbit (145 E Houston).  I think it’s free?  I don’t know if you gotta RSVP or not, I’ll try and find out more and update this…

PLAYING 2 SHOWS

For anyone who might not be following me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/mattiesafer) seemed like it was past due to make note of the fact that I will be playing 2 shows in the next week here in NYC.

Both shows are at Dominion NY.  I’ve been rehearsing with my new live band for a couple of months now and while we’re not quite ready for the big thing this show is a little different.  Islands (the main act) are presenting their new album in a small, intimate seated theater and offered me the chance to open up, present some of my own new material and “set the mood.” 

So in the spirit of the evening, my performance is going to be pretty laid back, featuring just myself singing, piano and guitar.  It’s been a lot of fun preparing for the show and it should be a beautiful night of music.  I have the privilege of playing with some talented individuals and I am happy to have an opportunity to present a show for y’all.

If you have a CMJ Badge entry is free this Saturday night, otherwise you can get advance tickets directly from the venue (http://www.dominionny.com/).  I’m not so sure on the details for next Saturday yet but I know I will be on fairly early this Saturday (7 pm) so try and make it early!

FREE SHOW IN NYC FEBRUARY 10TH!!!!

SATURDAY NIGHT WAS A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT…

Cold as all hell, but beautiful too!

Viv and I arrived at the club around 12:30 or so, Blu Jemz was rocking the nice warm up set.  People started piling in around 1 AM.  Caught up with a few friends, bought some drinks, admired the view (Le Bain is on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel), got ready.  Around 2:15 or so it was time to go on.

The crowd was great.  Lots of energy, lots of smiles, lots of grinding out on the floor.  There was this crazy “maneater” vibe in the room, all the women were eying the men like lions stalking antelope.  One friend of mine, one of the nicest, quietest, shyest guys you’ll ever meet somehow ended up back in a hotel room with 2 of them!  He credited my performance for setting the mood in the club… :)

Finished up the set with “Is That Your Girl?” and it really went off.  I think Telli forgot his verse halfway through but it didn’t matter.  Sh-t was fun as hell, Jemz was working the delays and EQs the whole time.  It was a great time!  The adrenaline rush that followed was magnificent, but let me tell you, when I got home and it finally wore off I crashed HARD!

Can’t wait ‘til next time!  Got more gigs in the works, keep your eyes here for details!

HUSSLE CLUB 7”/A GREAT THING TO DO 2NITE IN NYC

My good friend Terry from Hussle Club (the Downtown Prince of Darkness) is putting out a 7” on Mishka, part of their #gravewave series, which features (or is gonna feature) “dark” bands doing an original on one side and a cover on the other. 

His record features his original “Loose Tights” on one side and a cover of The Cult on the other.  It’s a tight record and you should definitely cop one.

ANNOUNCING A SHOW THIS SATURDAY IN NYC!!!

Very happy to announce that I will be performing this Saturday night (January 22nd) at Le Bain (444 W 13th St)!!! Admission is free… Bring a friend, bring a date, don’t be late (but don’t be early either… I’m probably going on around 1:30 or 2).  Very excited, this is a beautiful club!!!

Blu Jemz will be DJing, Dances will be wilding, OJ will be making airhorn sounds… what about you?  Will you be there???
