The show at Public Assembly the other night was great. A warm crowd, a good feeling in the room… I had the full band with me and we were just going all out and having fun. Thankfully the sound man was nice enough to make a little live recording so now I can share it with you (for the folks that couldn’t make it out).

Cold as all hell, but beautiful too!
Viv and I arrived at the club around 12:30 or so, Blu Jemz was rocking the nice warm up set. People started piling in around 1 AM. Caught up with a few friends, bought some drinks, admired the view (Le Bain is on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel), got ready. Around 2:15 or so it was time to go on.
The crowd was great. Lots of energy, lots of smiles, lots of grinding out on the floor. There was this crazy “maneater” vibe in the room, all the women were eying the men like lions stalking antelope. One friend of mine, one of the nicest, quietest, shyest guys you’ll ever meet somehow ended up back in a hotel room with 2 of them! He credited my performance for setting the mood in the club… :)
Finished up the set with “Is That Your Girl?” and it really went off. I think Telli forgot his verse halfway through but it didn’t matter. Sh-t was fun as hell, Jemz was working the delays and EQs the whole time. It was a great time! The adrenaline rush that followed was magnificent, but let me tell you, when I got home and it finally wore off I crashed HARD!

From ‘O Holy Night’ to un-holy night. Yesterday was a huge day for me. I gave the day my first solo release (my ‘O Holy Night’ Xmas single, available in the store) and I gave the night my first live performance. Yesterday was Dances With White Girls’s birthday, and to celebrate he asked me to perform. Rather than bring the church into the club I decided to perform one of the unreleased tracks we worked on together, a track called ‘Is That Your Girl?’ The track will be out early next year, but here is a chance to preview both the sound and my live capabilities. Viv shot video, we edited and uploaded this afternoon and you can take a look now, right here!
Big shouts to all my friends who were there and loud and rowdy, making it one of the best experiences of my life. Very happy to be back performing and I promise that there will be a lot more of it in the coming year, starting as soon as possible.
